OTTAWA – Katy Virginia (Morales) Boatman, age 75, of Ottawa passed away Monday, June 15, 2015, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2015 at Crossbridge Community Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Sherry Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Preston and Ryan Thompson, Dylan and Devin Morales, and David and Richard Ginger. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Katy was born October 21, 1939 in Modesto, California, the daughter of Antonio and Lucinda Adeline (Weems) Funari. She married Leon Morales in Dixon. He preceded her in death. She later married Charles E. Boatman. He also preceded her in death. Katy is survived by her sons Leon A. “Tony” (Julie) Morales and Gary “Mo” Morales, all of Ottawa; her grandchildren, Michelle Morales, Benjamin (Jamie) Morales, and Kristi (Ryan) Thompson; and her great grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, Preston, Maddox, Landon, and Mason. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Katy Boatman at birth; one brother, Angelo James Funari; and three sisters, Betty Schrock, Mary Ledbetter, and Catherine Funari.
Katy was a member of Crossbridge Community Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed baking and making cookies, her specialties being smiley faced cookies, divinity, and cinnamon rolls. She was devoted to her family and cherished her time spent with them. Katy also loved God and her church family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
