OTTAWA - Karl Ross Lengfelder, 87, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday morning at the Ottawa Pavilion. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Rev. John F. Crist officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with military rites by the Ottawa Veterans Organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Drew and Grant Lengfelder, Jerry Myers, Walter and Michael Ciesielski and Larry Bruck. Honorary pallbearer will be Francis McCormick. Karl was born November 5, 1922 at Mt. Vernon, Illinois, a son of Gustavus Adolphus and Mary Lurena (Williams) Lengfelder. He married Catherine J. Irwin May 5, 1948 at Peru, Illinois. She preceded him in death November 30, 2004. He is survived by a son, Karl (Lori) Lengfelder of Ottawa and three grandchildren, Lauren (Jerry) Myers, Drew and Grant Lengfelder all of Ottawa. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gustavus and a sister, Elsa Lengfelder. Karl was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ottawa. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the Asian Theater during World War II. He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge and also belonged to the American Legion and Elks Club. He enjoyed investing in real estate. He and his beloved wife Catherine loved dancing, particularly the polka. Karl loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
