Joseph L. "Loopy" Granados, age 58, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024 after a brave five year battle with cancer.
Joseph was born March 25, 1966 in Ottawa, Illinois to Guadalupe and Esther (Butoz) Granados. He is survived by his devoted mother, Esther; siblings, Marie (Steve) Smith, Angela (Dave) Keely, Julia Bailey and Lupita (Jesse) Eick all of Ottawa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe; a brother Johnny Granados; and half-sisters, Esther Gonzalez and Alicia Granados.
Joesph was a member of St. Columba parish. He had been employed as yard supervisor at Golden Rule Lumber in Ottawa. Joseph was a gifted carpenter who enjoyed woodworking. He loved being outdoors and was known to hunt and collect arrowheads. Joseph loved to organize canoe trips and Halloween parties. His favorite holiday was celebrating Christmas in Mexico with fireworks and other displays of good cheer. Most of all, Joseph treasured the time spent at home with family, particularly his dear mother and beloved dog, Lexi.
Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 AM Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 with Fr. Nicolas Wilson officiating.
