Joseph J. Almeda

Joseph J. Almeda, 82, of Ottawa, died Saturday, August 4th at Community Hospital of Ottawa. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Lourdura Ignatius officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with liturgical prayers at 4 p.m. Mr. Almeda was born December 8, 1924 in Ottawa to Mr. And Mrs. Trinidad and Lenore (Hureta) Almeda. He married Rita Ann Appel on June 7, 1958 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ottawa. Mr. Almeda worked for the Illinois Laundry and Cleaners for 53 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church where he served as usher for 30 years. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Joseph of Poolesville, Maryland, Trinidad (Paula) of Silver Springs, Maryland, Edward (Leslie) of Holland, Mich.; four daughters, Anita of Sycamore, Ill., Barbara (Tom) Small of Dimmick Twp., Ill., Mary (Carl) Steenbergen of Ottawa and Patti (Jack) Feehan of Ottawa; thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer Eichorn, Rachel and Mathew Almeda, Jessica, Ashley and Trenton Almeda, Jacob Small, Tyler and Bridgette Feehan, Alisha, Madeline, John and Braeden Almeda; and four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Raymond (Betty) of Streator, Francis "Peppy" and Steven of Ottawa, Tony (Bev) of Villa Park, Trinidad (Marie) of Utica; five sisters, Catherine Arroyo, Linda Almeda , and Josie (Jerry) Jeffries all of Ottawa, Victoria (Sid) Hensley of Lexington, North Carolina and Mary (John) Cabrera of Joliet; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Trenton and Matt Almeda, Jacob Small, Jon Stalker, Greg Mumma, and Scott Lawry. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
