John O. Harris

John O. Harris, age 82, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday at the Ottawa Pavilion. At his request, private family services with interment in Deer Park Cemetery will be at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. John O. Harris was born May 29, 1926 at Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Glenn and Hazel (Flannery) Harris. He married Franki Darrah in 1962, she preceded him in death in 2001. He is survived by a daughter, France (Kenneth) Mundy of Streator; a brother, Robert Harris of Chillicothe, IL; sisters, Jayne Hannigan of Ottawa and Marian Tison of Harrisburg, IL. He also leaves four grandchildren, Harley, Heather, Hallan and Hazel Brady and a great-grandson, Timothy Stanford. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Aicher. John was of the Christian faith. He served in the U.S. Army and Navy during World War II. John was the original owner of the Hickory House Restaurant, and later owned Bruno's Pizza in Streator, Sunova in Naplate and Somewhere Else on Main Street in Ottawa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ottawa Pavilion.
