John P. "Pete" Duve

July 13, 1933 — January 19, 2014

SHERIDAN – John P. “Pete” Duve, 80, of Sheridan, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 19th at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial services will be held February 1, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Lawn Funeral Home, 7909 State Road, Burbank, Illinois with visitation from 1:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Gladfelter Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.

John was born July 13, 1933 in Staten Island, New York, the son of Gustaf Adolph and Elly (Luders) Duve.  He married Suzanne Schmitt in Colorado.  She preceded him in death.  He later married Nancy (Cesak) Wilkin May 11, 1996 in Burbank, IL.  Surviving are his wife, Nancy Wilkin-Duve of Sheridan; his children, Gerald (Marianne) Duve of Amboy, IL, Ronald (Bobyjo) Duve of Brookfield, IL, Russell Duve of Albuquerque, NM, and Eric (Tina) Duve of Riverside, IL; his stepchildren, Natalie (David) Wilkins of Olive Branch, MS, John (Michelle) Wilkin of Plainfield, IL, and Christine (Raymond) Pfaff of Sheridan, IL; his grandchildren, Joshua, Greta, Teagan, Stephanie, Elena, and Max; his stepgrandchildren, Jacquelyn, Raymond, Kelly, Jacob, Melissa, Johnathon, Heather, Zachary, and Ethan; and his great grandchildren, Danika and Jensen.  Also surviving are his brothers, Wolfgang Duve of Maine, Roger Duve of Pennsylvania, and George Duve of New Jersey; and his sister, Helga Monaka Dalezios of Greece.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Steven.

John was of the Lutheran faith.  His hobbies included woodworking, and gardening.  He enjoyed traveling the world, model trains and spending time in the great outdoors  His most cherished times were those spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be directed to the American Cancer Society .
