LANSING - Joanne Wolfe Jensen, 82, of Lansing, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Munster Community Hospital, Munster, Indiana. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011 at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Mrs. Jensen was born in Ottawa October 9, 1929, to James and Myra (LaValle) Wolfe. She married Robert J. Jensen on April 14, 1950 in Chicago. He died November 9, 1967. She was a library director for the Village of Lansing during which time she was instrumental in designing and creating the Indiana Avenue Library, and retired after 30 years of employment. She also wrote and contributed to many professional publications. She was a founding member of the Lansing Historical Society, was president of the South Suburban Librarian Association for two terms and elected for a six-year term to the Lansing Library Board with the largest majority that was ever received. She is survived by a son, Christopher (Susan) Jensen of Lansing; a daughter, Claudia (Brian) Consorti of Munster, IN; two grandchildren, Jamie and Kevin Jensen; and a brother, Robert Wolfe of Arkansas. A brother, James Wolfe, preceded her in death. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
