Jeffrey Nelson Holmes

OTTAWA – Jeffrey Nelson Holmes, 53, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening, February 27, 2014, at the First Assembly of God Church, 1131 First Avenue in Ottawa with Pastor Ron Johnson officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gladfelter Funeral Home.

Jeffrey was born March 10, 1960 in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Douglas and Marine (French) Holmes.  He married Tecia Green September 9, 1994 in Ottawa.  Surviving are his wife, Tecia, of Ottawa; his parents, Douglas (Pamela) Holmes of Corbin, Kentucky and Marine (Rick) Risetter of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; his children, Jeffrey (Trish) Holmes Jr. of Miliana, Hawaii, Matt  and Seth (Tesha) Holmes all of Oglesby, Ashley Holmes of Cherokee Village, AK and Jamilia Jones of Oglesby; his brothers, Michael and Brian Rangel, both of Sheridan; his sister, Kerri Fuentes of Lee, IL; and his grandchildren, Avery and Mason Rees, Sean, Madeline, and Garrett Holmes, and Cabela Jones, on the way.

Jeffrey was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Ottawa where he served as an elder.  He had been employed at Hardgrove Insurance Agency, Angel Private Eyes and Christian Station TV 38.  Jeffrey proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  He enjoyed watching television, especially the Discovery Channel and CNN.  He loved sports and his pastimes included playing pool and bowling.  His most cherished times were those spent with his family and his church family.  Jeffrey was the best husband, dad, and son in the world.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Assembly of God Missions.
