OTTAWA – Jean Wilson, age 80, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7th at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
Jean was born June 30, 1935 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a daughter of Leon and Maggie (Gamill) Haworth. Surviving are her children, Sharon (Ken) Mitchell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Susan (Mike) Boaz of Marseilles, Penny Wilson of Pekin, and Roy Gene (Kim) Driscoll of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She also leaves a sister, Betty Shipman of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Lacy and Shelby Linton, Brandee Hurt, Allison Driscoll, Ashley and Trevor Lowman, Courtney, Brooke and Drew Kotowski, two great-grandchildren, Zoey Loman and Taylor Hurt; and a great great grandson Jaxson Hurt. Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennie Lynn Driscoll; a grandchild, Keifer Boaz; and two sisters, Helen Poindexter and Marylou Manning.
Jean was a very energetic lady and had a love and passion for music. She worked with pride and dedication organizing fundraisers for nonprofit organizations to help Firefighters, Police, Red Cross, and schools all across the central Illinois area. In doing so she got to work alongside and meet some well-known musicians to include Boxcar Willie, Billy “Crash” Craddock, Ronnie McDowell and Elvis Presley Jr. Jean’s most recent blessing was reconfirming her faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. Jean enjoyed time with her family and will be deeply missed. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
