Jayne (Harris) Hannigan

July 12, 1923 — June 17, 2019

Jayne Hannigan, age 95, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully Monday, June 17, 2019 at her home, with her loving family by her side.

Private family services will be held at Deer Park Cemetery with Richard Hillenbrand, Vitas Hospice Chaplain officiating.  Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is entrusted with her arrangements.

Jayne was born July 12, 1923 in Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of Glenn R. and Hazel (Flanery) Harris.  She married George Hannigan September 6, 1946 in Ottawa.  He preceded her in death March 17, 2005.  She is survived by her daughters, Linda (the late Bill) Anselme, Sharon (Dennis) Rossiter and Lori (Rick) Perez all of Ottawa; a brother, Bob Harris also of Ottawa.  She also leaves grandchildren, William and Leti Anselme, Nina and Todd Fleming, Stephanie and Eli Johnson, Carrie and Mike Poundstone, Allison Perez, Erica Myers and Michael Miller; great-grandchildren, Parker Jayne, Justin Todd, Amanda Rose, Ethan William, Cole and Kaybreigh; great-great-grandchildren, Willow Rose and Zane William.  Jayne was preceded in death by a daughter, Glena Miller; a brother, John Harris, sisters, Joanne Aicher and Marian Tison; and nephews, James Aicher, Danny Holm and Jordan Harris.

Mom went to be with our Lord after an extended illness, surrounded by her loving family.  She always maintained her sense of humor and quick wit throughout the many obstacles she endured.  We are so thankful for the kindness and compassion of Vitas Hospice  She enjoyed road trips with her husband George, watching old movies while simultaneously eating Fannie Mae candies and spending time with her family.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her Best Friend and Grandson, Michael Miller.  He was her personal chef, butler, gardener, caretaker and most importantly, her pillar the past 15 years.

Our mom raised four strong daughters and taught them to be non-judgmental, not to gossip and to always laugh.  Mom loved a good garage sale and would often purchase sweatshirts that made her family laugh.  Jayne will be dearly missed by her family who will always remember her kindness and also her famous scent (Estee Lauder’s Youth Dew).  Contributions may be directed to the Ottawa Friendship House in Jayne’s memory.  She always enjoyed the May Day Baskets delivered by the Residents of Friendship House.  .
