James W. Anderson

OTTAWA – James W. Anderson, age 83, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
At James’ request, there will be no services or visitation. Gladfelter Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
James was born April 26, 1931 in Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Clyde and Mary (Knutson) Anderson. He married Shirley Jean Frisch in 1953 at the Wedron Methodist Church. She preceded him in death November 5, 2012. James is survived by his son, Jeffrey Anderson of Ottawa; granddaughters, Katie and Heidi Anderson; and a half-brother, Chuck Anderson of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.
James had been employed as a bricklayer and was a member of Local 10 and 6. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. James was a member of the Marseilles American Legion and AARP. In his leisure time, James enjoyed hunting, fishing and ballroom dancing. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
