Hubert "Bud" William Pitstick

OTTAWA – Hubert “Bud” Pitstick, age 86, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday evening, July 6, 2017 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Reverend David M. Kipfer celebrating.  Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gladfelter Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be David Brady, Brad, Brian, Paul, and Steve Pitstick, and Kevin Stillwell.  Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Michelle Faupl, Lindsey Donahue, Katie Mitchell, Sarah Haage, and Haley Cook.

Bud was born January 2, 1931 in Ottawa, the son of Henry Paul and Ida Catherine (Funfsinn) Pitstick.  He married Betty J. Hougas April 7, 1956 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa.  Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Betty, of Ottawa; his children, Kandis Jackson of Ottawa, Kraig (Carol) Pitstick of Ottawa, Kathy (Tony) Cook of Lawrenceville, GA, and Brenda Haage of Ottawa; his siblings, Vince Pitstick of Ottawa, Paula (Arden) Chapple of Spokane, WA, and Edwin (Bette Lu) Pitstick of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Michelle (Adam) Faupl of Ottawa, Brad (Courtney) Pitstick of Oswego, David (Dina) Brady of Sparta, NJ, Lindsey (Jake) Donahue of Ottawa, Katie (Aaron) Mitchell of Ottawa, Sarah Haage and fiancé, Matt Najdanovich, of Ottawa, and Haley Cook of Lawrenceville, GA; and eight great grandchildren.  Bud was preceded in death by his brothers, Edmund, Bernard, Peter, Lawrence, and Richard; his sisters, Rose Bulfer, Mae Alexander, Zita Alexander, Rita Pitstick, Lottie Stallings, Marjorie Nelson, and Marilyn Hanusik.

Bud was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.  He operated the family owned business Pitstick Dairy from 1947 to 1981 and Pitstick Beach from 1983 until 1995.  In his younger years, Bud enjoyed going dancing at the Aragon Ball Room in Chicago and being a member of a bowling league.  He loved spending time with his family, fishing, gardening, and shooting pool.  Bud took the greatest pride in his 1972 red Cadillac El Dorado convertible.  He and his wife, Betty, wintered in Florida for over 35 years where they enjoyed being on the beach and in the sun.  In addition to his many interests, Bud always had room for ice cream.
