Helen Myrtle Warren, 91, of Ottawa, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at La Salle County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Lade officiating. Burial will be in Harding Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time. Mrs. Warren was born March 6, 1917, in Granville, Iowa, to Floyd and Anna (Ricker) Bowers. She graduated from the University of South Dakota, at Vermillion, South Dakota, on June 7, 1941, where she met her future husband, Harland Daniel Warren, of Serena Township, LaSalle County, Illinois, who graduated the same year from the University of South Dakota, College of Law. They was married September 2, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa, and took up residence in Oak Brook, Ill., following her husband being commissioned as Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve. He was discharged from the Naval Service July 1, 1946. Her husband preceded her in death May 13, 2007. She is survived by two sons, John Harland Warren of Springfield, Ill., and Harland Daniel Warren, Jr. of Ottawa; a daughter, Anne R. Smith of Ottawa; a granddaughter, Karen (Robert) Norris of Marseilles; and three great grandchildren, April Smith, Audrey Plique and Robert Norris, Jr. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Bowers Lenihan; and a brother-in-law, Philip Lenihan. Memorials may be directed to the Harding United Methodist Church.
