NAPLATE -- Helen Capitani, age 93, of Naplate, Ill., passed away at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at LaSalle County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Monsignor Jerome Ham officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. Capitani was born October 20, 1916, in Ladd, Ill., to Eugene and Florence (Torri) Mucci Sr. She married Dante Capitani January 25, 1936 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate. He preceded her in death January 4, 1967. She is survived by a son, Don (Carol) Capitani of Peru; a daughter, Elaine (James) Swaback of Ottawa; grandchildren, Brenda (Keith) Bohner, Lisa (Jerry) Gahan, Sally Swaback, David and Dino Capitani; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Mucci and Loretta Wisniewski; and six brothers, John, Sam, Hank, Delpho, Ray and Eugene Mucci and a grandson, Keith James Swaback. Helen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She dearly loved her children and grand children and particularly enjoyed cooking for them.
