Hazel Chalus Worden

Hazel Chalus Worden, 97, of Gadsden, Alabama, formerly of Ottawa died Tuesday, August 1, 2006. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Williams of the Evangelical United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Worden was born January 5, 1909 in Waltham Twp. to Ernest and Fannie (Walter) Chalus. She married Richard L. Worden in December 9, 1939 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Ottawa. He died in June 1965. She was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, Ottawa Boat Club and the Philanthropic Education Organization. She retired from the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 13 years of employment in 1939. She is survived by two daughters, Suzanne (Dr. William) Haller of Gadsden, Alabama and Muriel (David) Honeycutt of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren; Dr.William Haller III of Gadsden, Alabama, Scott Haller of Birmingham, Alabama, Sara Chinnock of St. Peters, Missouri and David and Lauren Honeycutt of Los Angeles, California and five great grandchildren; Megan and Allison Haller, Mason and Ethan Haller and Caitlin Chinnock. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Richard C. Worden and a sister, Bernice Chalus. Pallbearers will be David C. Honeycutt, David W. Honeycutt, Dr. William N Haller, Marty Brown, Marwood Chalus and Ralph Walter. Memorials may be directed to the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Ottawa.
