OTTAWA – Harry Charles Owens, age 80, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at his home.
Private family services will be held. Gladfelter Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Harry was born May 13, 1932 at Toledo, Ohio, a son of Hilton Woody and Pearl Rose (Bale) Owens. He married Sharon Patty January 13, 1962 in Lambertville, Michigan. She preceded him in death September 15,1993. Surviving are his children, Beverly (Tom) Wicinski of Ottawa, Brian (Lauren) Owens of Hollywood, Florida and Barbara Owens of Davie, Florida; and 2 grandchildren, Chanice and Addison Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Nancy Johns, and one grandson, Dustin Hoekstra.
Harry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Toledo Ohio. He was also a retired maintenance worker at Ottawa Pavilion. In 1981 Harry served as the Commander of the American Legion in Ottawa. He had also been very active in the Boy Scouts. In his leisure, Harry enjoyed reading, crafts, and working crossword puzzles. He was also an avid nutcracker, stamp, and coin collector.
