OTTAWA - Harriette (Maass) Stone, age 96, of Ottawa, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2009 at Pleasant View. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend Kangse Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Summitview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Harriette was born November 25, 1912 in South Ottawa Township, LaSalle County, Illinois, a daughter of Herman J. and Katherine (Hoppe) Maass. She married Ralph L. Stone November 25, 1943 at the First Baptist Church in Ottawa. He preceded her in death December 27, 1993. She is survived by nephews, Donald L. (Rosalie) Maass of Streator and William J. Maass of Kangley; nieces, Jane (Richard) Garvey of Sycamore and Constance (Tim) Brandow of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Harold and Gilbert Maass and two sisters, Gertrude and Helen Maass. Mrs. Stone was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Methodist Women, the Lois/Olmyr Guild, Senior Citizens Group of Epworth and AARP. She retired in 1976 as supervisor of production at J. E. Porter Company after 28 years employment. Memorial contributions may be directed to Epworth United Methodist Church or Pleasant View.
