Harold "Dean" Rickey

Harold "Dean" Rickey, age 88, of Ottawa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at La Salle County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa with the Rev. John W. Walker of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be 11 a. m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the committal service by the St. Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 263 A.F. & A.M., Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of services at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Mr. Rickey was born September 10, 1917, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Jesse James and May (Parker) Rickey. He married Dorothy A. Faires on November 9, 1940, in Anamosa, Iowa. She died December 30, 1997. He then married Marilyn E. (Mumper) Farrell on December 5, 1998, in Ottawa. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army. He was self-employed as a window display designer for which he won prizes professionally and worked for Jordan Hardware prior to his retirement. He was a 50-year member of the Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge, No. 263, A.F. & A.M. and also of the Scottish Rite Consistory in Cedar Rapids. He was a fifty-year member and four times past patron of the Mary E. Chapter No. 270, O.E.S. in Ottawa. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Ottawa. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Cynthia (Frank) Morgan of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; a son, Kent (Jan) Rickey of Monticello, Fla.; two granddaughters, Amanda Powers and Melissa Morgan; and a great granddaughter.
