WEDRON - Harold E. "Pete" Peterson, 75, of Wedron, passed away Monday evening, May 30, 2011, at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 3, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wedron with Reverend John Waugh celebrating. Burial will follow in DeBolt Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, June 2nd, from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Leo Doerr, James Zaccagnini, Junior Keigley, John Martin, James Habedank and John Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Drew, Justin, and Brycon Peterson. Harold was born December 13, 1935 in Canton, Illinois, a son of Elmer Eugene and Marietta (Smith) Peterson. He married Jodene Martinetz April 12, 1958 in Naplate. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jodene, of Wedron; his father, Elmer, of Ottawa; his children, Craig Peterson of Wedron, Gayanne (Scott) Coda of West Bend, Wisconsin, Mark (Kellie) Peterson of Bakersfield, California, Scott (Kelly) Peterson of Ottawa, and Tracie Peterson of Wedron; his grandchildren, Kara Peterson-Habedank, Drew, Justin, Emily, Ashley, Brycon, Madison, and Ryan Peterson, and Jessica Weick; and great grandchildren, Hailey Peterson-Habedank and Adleigh Peterson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marietta, September 27, 2004. Harold proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a former heavy equipment operator at Wedron Silica. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Wedron. Harold had served as Captain of the Serena Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. He had also served on the Wedron Grade School Board and the Dayton Township Board. He was a great fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bulls. He loved time spent camping and being outdoors. His most cherished times were those spent with family. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Serena Volunteer Fire Department or Mass Cards.
