Harold James Locke

June 24, 1918 — January 20, 2007

Harold James Locke, 88, of Ottawa, died Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the LaSalle County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Polly Klimson of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Locke was born June 24, 1918, in Farm Ridge Twp., to Walter and Ella (Wultzen) Locke. He married Florence Mae Morrison on September 26, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa. She died October 19, 2004. He was the proprietor of Locke's Repair Shop. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou (Edward) Schomas of Ottawa, Linda Sue (Earl) Grooms of Marseilles, Cathy Irene (Alan) Bloomer of Maquon, Ill.; a son, Harold "Bud" Eugene (Stephanie) of Ottawa; ten grandchildren, Randy, Rick and Mike Schomas, Pat O'Brien, Beth Bernabei, Dan Grooms, Lora Hert, Renee Norwicki, Brianna Locke and Jimmy Bloomer; seven great grandchildren, Nick and Kailey Schomas, Joseph Bernabei, Casey Burress, Ashley, Jordan and Savannah Norwicki.; one sister, Evelyn Sturgeon of Earlville. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Katie; two brothers, Donald and Robert, and a sister, Shirley Vanderpool. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Randy, Rick and Mike Schomas, Pat O'Brien, Dan Grooms and Jim Bloomer. Memorials may be directed to the family.
