Geraldine Marie Saager

OTTAWA - Geraldine Marie Saager, 83, of Ottawa, passed away at 6:19 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Ottawa Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Schoon officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Geraldine was born October 27, 1927 at Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of Jerry Daniel and Mary Anna (Amendt) Fisher. She married Harold Walter Saager May 3, 1947 at Ottawa. Harold preceded her in death July 18, 1995. Geraldine is survived by her children, Larry (Kathy) Saager of Wedron, Bonnie (Earl) Vernoy of Ottawa and Marianne (John) Gulbronson of Lambertville, Michigan. She also leaves a sister, Shirley Gjerde of Streator; grandchildren, Chad Frye, Tina Meagher, Teri Martin, John, Allison, Nathan and Shelby Gulbronson; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Flashing. Geraldine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Deborah Circle and the Home Extension. She was a former LPN at Pleasant View Luther Home and Community Hospital of Ottawa. Geraldine enjoyed traveling, knitting and playing cards with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed drawing and painting with oils and watercolors.
