George A. Harris

George A. Harris, 83, of Ottawa, passed away on August 2, 2024, at the La Salle County Nursing Home.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

George was born on October 22, 1940, the son of George and Arlene (Bluer) Harris in Ottawa. George attended Ottawa Schools after which he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Jo Ann Holloway on December 15, 1962 in Ottawa where they made their home for their family. George worked for many years at LOF Glass until his retirement. George was an outdoorsman who loved to fish and deer hunt. He also was in a pool league in town and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. George was a proud family man. He enjoyed cooking for his family especially when it was a fish fry. He will be dearly missed.

George is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Harris; children, Kelly (Jeff) Cofoid and Scott (Grace) Harris; a brother, Michael (Mary Kay) Harris; grandchildren, Brianne (Kevin) Simpson, Michelle (Marcus) Blair, and Scott Harris Jr.; and great grandchildren, Kinzleigh and Macklin Blair, and Cora and Noah Simpson. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Karen Armstrong; and a grandson, Bradley Cofoid.
