Fredricka Mae "Freddie" Budach

Fredricka Mae "Freddie" Budach, age 82, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, November 12th at St. Columba Church with Reverend David Kipfer officiating. Burial will follow at Summitview Cemetery in Ottawa.  Visitation will be 11:00 AM until the time of service on Thursday.  Due to the pandemic, masks and social distancing are required.  A Celebration of Life will be planned for next year in warmer weather. Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Fredricka was born June 25, 1938 in Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of William and Vera (Willet) Funk. She married the love of her life, James E. Budach on August 17, 1963 in Ottawa. He preceded her in death August 12, 2014. She is survived by her children, James M. (Amy) Budach of Ottawa and June Davis of Ottawa; grandchildren, Andrew (Kara) Davis, William Davis, Joel Davis, Alicia Budach, and Justin Budach; great grandchildren, Olivia, Matt and Alexander Davis.  Freddie also leaves a brother, William Funk of Ottawa; and sisters, Rosanne Wolfe of Tucson, AZ and Eileen "Egee" (Mike) Mason of Marseilles and brother-in-law, Mick Wolfe of Tucson, AZ.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Margaret Zinnani, and a grandson, Christian Davis.

Freddie attended St. Columba Catholic Church where she often served as a lector.  She was a 1956 graduate of Marquette High School and a graduate of Marycrest College in Davenport, IA.  She enjoyed a tenure of over 50 years at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.  She was the first medical technologist hired and served in that capacity until the hospital closed.  She belonged to various social clubs and was a member of the U of I Home Extension of which she was a past president. She enjoyed playing piano in her younger years.  Freddie was good at leathercraft and enjoyed gardening.  She was particularly proud of her signature sloppy joe BBQ secret recipe that she made for the 4-H fair for several years.  Freddie loved her family dearly and will be truly missed.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Columba Church Building Fund or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
