Frances Helen Kossow

OTTAWA - Frances Helen Kossow, age 85, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Pleasant View. Funeral services honoring her life will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1st at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Interment will follow in St. Valentine Cemetery, Spring Valley. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Frances was born September 11, 1925 at Peru, Illinois, a daughter of Casimir and Julia (Oftinowski) Liss. She married Frank Arthur Kossow at St. Valentine Church in Peru. He preceded her in death July 26, 1970. Frances is survived by her children, Kayla Kossow (James A.) Page of Omaha, Nebraska and Keith Frank (Donna) Kossow of Metropolis ; a grandson, James A. (Lauren) Page II of Paducah, Kentucky. She also leaves a nephew, Kent Athey of Peru; a niece, Jewel Ann (Larry) Kohr of LaSalle; and a special friend, Liz Graham of Ottawa. A son, Daniel Allen Kossow and a sister, Eleanor Athey preceded her in death. Frances was a member of St. Francis Church in Ottawa. She worked as a clerk at Walgreens Pharmacy for 10 years. Frances worked as a volunteer at Re-Runs for St. Columba Church and was an avid advocate for animal rights. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and many friends.
