OTTAWA - Floyd L. "Junior" Cavanaugh, age 79, of Ottawa, passed away 10:39 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at his residence. Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Interment will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon till service time Saturday at the funeral home. Floyd was born December 28, 1930 at Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Floyd and Margaret (Eisert) Cavanaugh, Sr. He married Betty Ann Brooks in 1949. He later married Sharon (Mitchell) Penoyer in 1980. He is survived by his children, Kelli (Tim) Bretag of Cable, Wisconsin and Clint Cavanaugh of Ottawa; sisters, Jean Denoyer of Moraga, California and Isabel (Pete) Smith of Utica, Illinois. He also leaves grandchildren, Jason (Pam) Cavanaugh of Peru, Jesse, Heidi and Carly Cavanaugh of Ottawa, Justin Bretag of Wisconsin, Kara and Kassie Bretag of California and Hailey, Alyssa and Olivia Lee of Ottawa; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Kaitlyn Cavanaugh. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Craig in 1976 and F. Gary in 1999; two brothers, Clifford in childhood and Donald James "Jim" Cavanaugh; and two sisters, Gladys Papineau and Dorothy Tieber. Floyd was a retired employee of Libby Owens Ford at Naplate. He was a member of the Illinois Valley Horsemen's Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. His entire life was centered around his hobby and business of buying, selling, breeding and training horses at the Cavanaugh Homestead and Stable on Porter Road. In earlier years, Floyd provided horses for Camp Tuckabatchee. Memorial contributions may be directed to Easter Seals.
