Florence L. Cheli

Florence L. Cheli, 92, of Ottawa, died Monday, Feb. 26th, at Pleasant View Luther Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Naplate with the Rev. Steven P. Loftus as the celebrant. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 4 p.m. Mrs. Cheli was born April 26, 1914, in Torino, Ill., to Carl and Emma (Capitani) Tonielli. She married James Charles Cheli June 2, 1935, at St. Joseph Church in Marseilles. He died November 22, 1998. In 1947, she and her husband decided to add onto their home in Naplate and open the Casa Mia Restaurant. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and Deer Park County Club. She is survived by a daughter, Joretta E. (Dr. Richard A.) Ewald of Ottawa; a son, James G. (Bernie) Cheli of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Lynne (Paul) Gerding of Geneva, Lisa (Brian) Kelley of Ann Arbor, Mich., Roger Ewald of St. Charles, Michael (Sharri) Cheli and Kirk Cheli all of Bloomington; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Anne Secker of Marseilles and Della Hogan of Riverton, Ill. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Gregory Ewald. Pallbearers will be Roger Ewald, Mike, Kirk and Jacob Cheli, Joe Benner and Jim Eustice. Memorials may be directed to the donors' Choice.
