OTTAWA - Ethel M. Chapman, age 99, of Ottawa, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009 at Rivershore Care Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Chapman was born May 22, 1910 at Redmon, Illinois, a daughter of Samuel T. and Myrtle F. (Lewis) Collins. She married Laurel R. Chapman October 31, 1929 at Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death August 23, 1987. She is survived by four sons, Laurel (Dorothy) Chapman, Jr. of Fort Myers, Florida, Robert Chapman of Ottawa, Edward J. (Christine) Chapman of Naperville and Lloyd (Diane) Chapman of Ottawa; two daughters, Esther (Tim) Baxter of Northville, Michigan and Lois Chapman of Naples, Florida; and a sister, Pearl Conway of Stuart, Florida. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Collins and two sisters, Lena Hanson and Vendetta Hatfield. Ethel had been a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Ottawa and the North Fort Myers Nazarene Church. She had been a church organist, pianist and choir director for 80 years. Ethel loved her family. She was particularly fond of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
