Emma Elizabeth Elsie (Wagner) Jonnassen

OTTAWA – Emma Elizabeth Elsie Jonnassen, 95, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Serviceman’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Emma was born September 21, 1921, in Wayne, Nebraska, the daughter of John and Gesine (Binger) Wagner.  She married Kenneth Jonnassen on April 28, 1937 in Alexandria, South Dakota.   He preceded her in death June 29, 1996.  She is survived by her children, Darlene Maupin, of Ottawa, Donna (Larry) Sperlich, of Ames, IA, and John Paul Jonnassen, of Valier, IL; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren, and 23 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Jonnassen; a brother, Myron Wagner; two sisters, Bernadine Helliman and Leila Kayser; and a son in-law, Donny Maupin.

Emma was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Her hobbies included word puzzles and embroidery.  Emma loved to read.
