OTTAWA - Elaine Makeever, 87, of Ottawa passed away Thursday morning, December 22, 2011 at Pleasant View. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Garry Briesacher officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 on Monday evening, December 26th at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Joe, Michael, and Jon Makeever, Ben Picker, Don Damron, and Doug Shumway. Elaine was born June 26, 1924 in Joliet, Illinois, a daughter of Frederick "Fritz" and Jensine Marie Johansen. She married Raymond Makeever on April 18, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Raymond, of Ottawa; six sons, Ray (Linda) Makeever, Jr. of Minneapolis, MN, Jerry (Susan) Makeever of Bozeman, MT, Bob (Susan) Makeever of Appleton, WI, Mike (Kelly) Makeever of Fishers, IN, Tom (Kathryn) Makeever and Ron (Diane) Makeever, all of Ottawa. Elaine also leaves her grandchildren, Anya Thomsen, Sophia Breitag, Matthew, Megan and Emily Makeever, Gail (Don) Damron, Sarah (Doug) Shumway, Matt Makeever, Kara (Ben) Picker, Mike, Jon (Sarah), Kathryn, Joseph, Meredith, Grant and Maria Makeever; and great grandchildren, Joli, Sean, Drew, Ella, Trey, George, Jadon, August, Emily and Madelyn. Five sisters, Evelyn Anderson, Lillian Rosebrook, Lois Myers, Jeanne Schleck and Helene Beaudry preceded her in death along with a brother, William Johansen. Elaine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Naomi Circle, Illinois Valley Quilter's Guild and the Dayton Ridge Country Club. She served many years as treasurer of the LaSalle County School Employee's Credit Union. Elaine was an avid golfer as well as an award winning quilter and baker. However, the time she treasured most was that spent with her family and supporting their many musical endeavors. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society or the American Alzheimers Association.
