Edwin Charles Conrad

Edwin Charles Conrad, 84, of Moline, formerly of Ottawa died Monday, September 17, 2007 at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline, Illinois. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor Irv Smith of Hamlet Perryton Presbyterian Church, Reynolds, Ill. officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the funeral home. Mr. Conrad was born March 10, 1923 in Streator, Illinois to Louis and Ida (Peterson) Conrad. He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Wedron Silica Co. in 1991 as a Weigh Master. He is survived by two daughters, Carla (Steve) Scott of Coal Valley, Ill, and Carlene (Norm) Hall of Lincoln, Neb.; and a son Eugene (Becky) of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jason (Michele) Kurtenbach, Michael (Heather) Kurtenbach, Elizabeth (Kris) Gilbert, Steven (Jamie) Scott, Ranee and Rylee Hall; and a great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by five sisters, Irene Albright, Rachel Herbolsheimer, Lucille Nichols, twin sisters, Ruth Zemaitis, and Evelyn Brownell; three brothers, Roger W., Clarence, and Russell Edward Conrad; four half sisters, Mary Dupke, Clara Neal, Florence Burnner, Henrietta Mohr; and three half brothers, Louis "Sam" Conrad, Walter H. Conrad and Roy Gesswein. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to National Parkinson Foundation.
