OTTAWA - Edward F. Horan, 87, of Ottawa passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Private family services will be held at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend Philip D. Halfacre officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Memory Lanes in Dolton, Illinois. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Edward was born December 3, 1923 in Chicago, a son of Edward and Cecelia Celia (Jennings) Horan. He married Rosemarie (Broermann) Bressendorf in Chicago in 1970. She preceded him in death in 1998. Edward is survived by his son, Frank (Barbara) Bressendorf of Ottawa; four sisters, Loretta Bailey, Ann Mason, Barbara Schultz, and Eileen Lennertz; two grandchildren, Kevin Bressendorf of Ottawa and Julie (Jonathan) Keller of Rowayton, Connecticut; and three great grandchildren, Ashley Bressendorf, and Rory and Reed Keller. One sister preceded him in death. Edward proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He attended St. Patrick Church in Ottawa. He loved to play golf and enjoyed many hours on the golf course with his son, Frank, and grandson, Kevin. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pet Project.
