Edward E. Dennis

STREATOR - Edward Earl Dennis, Jr., 69, of Streator, died 11:51 a.m. Sunday, September 27, 2009 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 4--7 PM Wednesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Mr. Dennis was born January 26, 1940 in Ottawa to Edward Earl and Marie (Anderson) Dennis. He married Carol Ann Farrell on May 26, 1962. She preceded him in death January 28, 2005. He was retired as a welder from Streator Dependable after twenty-nine years employment. He was a member of the Eagles and PNA Hall, both of Streator. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 - 1958. Ed enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing and playing cards. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Julie (Bill) Glowicki of Streator and Eva Dennis of Streator; three sons, Edward Dennis, IV, Thomas (Kathy) Dennis, and James (Tanya) Dennis, all of Streator; a brother, Richard (Sally) Dennis of Ottawa, three sisters, Beverly Warren of Ottawa, Theresa Dennis of Goodrich, TX, and Cathy Kinkade of Ocean Spring, MS; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Edward III, and two brothers, Michael and Thomas, preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
