Dr. Clifford E. Loomis, DVM, age 87, of Ottawa, died June 7, 2006, at the Quincy Veterans Home in Quincy, Ill. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday June 10, 2006 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Williams officiating and Robert Shunick doing the eulogy. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday with an Elks service at 7 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Mr. Loomis was born March 12, 1919, in Chicago, to Charles and Marie (Alexander) Loomis. He married Betty Kins in April of 1944, in North Carolina. She died August 7, 1997. He served as a Major in the US Army during World War II. He was proprietor of the Loomis Veterinarian Clinic for 38 years, retired in 1990 and also served as the LaSalle County Animal Control Administrator for 16 years. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church where he was an Elder, the Ottawa Elks Club, VFW Post #2470, American Legion #33, Ottawa Police & Fire Commission, Ottawa Grade School Board, Hospital Board, DVMA and Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association. Mr. Loomis is survived by one daughter Kathy Loomis Bartman of Springfield; one son Barry Loomis of Ottawa, two grandsons, Brian Loomis of Ottawa and Brady Loomis of St Joseph Illinois, two great grand children, Camden Royce Loomis, Ella Christine Loomis; and a step great grand child, Cole Harvey He was preceded in death by a brother Roy Loomis. Pallbearers will be Jon Kranov, Terry Fischer, Ken Bruck, Chad Jeanblanc, Phillip (Chico) Rodriquez, Andy Maritz. Honorary pallbears: Dr. Robert Rieman, Dr. Donald Morehead, Dr. Donald Kranov, Robert Shunick, James Loomis. Memorial contributions may be directed to Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
