Dorthea Ann (Stohl) Meyers

OTTAWA – Dorthea Meyers, age 90, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the LaSalle County Nursing Home.

Funeral services and Eastern Star Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend Ralph Deming officiating.  Visitation will be from noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park.

Dorthea was born October 3, 1927 in Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of Olaf and Oline (Rasmussen) Stohl.  She married Cleo Andrew Meyers October 16, 1955 in Ottawa.  He preceded her in death November 2, 1990.  Survivors include her children, Cameron Jon (Rose) Meyers, Beth Ann Meyers, and Lisa Joy (James) Panko, all of Ottawa; nieces, Carolyn (Dick) Shipman of Ottawa and Linda (Randy) Heuer and Carol Myers, both of Minnesota; and a nephew, Daryl (Sally) Stohl of Ottawa.  She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Ed, Carl, Frank and Ralph Stohl.

Dorthea was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.  She loved to work in her garden, watch the birds, and spend time in the kitchen cooking and baking.  Dorthea adored her favorite dog, Chicklet.  The time she treasured most was that spent with her family.
