Dorothy E. Watson

Dorothy E. Watson, of Ottawa, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22nd, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Philip D. Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home with prayers at 4 p.m. Mrs. Watson was born July 28, 1922, in Ottawa, to Andrew Francis and Clara (Mickish) Helman. She married Peter John Watson in 1960. He died September 26, 1982. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the former chairman of the Democratic Women. She is survived by two daughters,. Rhitta (Kenneth) Bell and Patricia Smith both of Ottawa; a son, Thomas Munson of Carbondale, Ill.; seven grandchildren; five great-granddaughters; six great grandsons; one great great granddaughter; and one sister, Barbara Hoxie of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Jean Hall; a grandson, Curtis Bell; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Cheveliar and Marie Lamb; two brothers, Vernon and Andrew Helman; and five half-brothers, Harry, Howard, William, George and Theodore Clark. Memorials may be directed to the family.
