Dorothy Jane Temple

OTTAWA – Dorothy Jane Temple, 90, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Pleasant View.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Serena United Methodist Church with Reverend Cynthia Zolk officiating. Burial will follow in West Serena Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening, June 7, 2012 at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be David and Kent Butterfield, Duane, James G. and Jay Temple and Troy Novey.
Dorothy was born October 2, 1921 in Ottawa, a daughter of Frank and Maude (Clairmont) McEwing. She married Joe Temple on February 15, 1941 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Ottawa. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Joe, of Ottawa; two sons, Howard and Jim (Melinda) Temple both of Serena; a daughter, Jane Novey of O’Fallon, IL; ten grandchildren, Duane, Karmella, James G., Jay, Jill and Torrey Jean Temple, Sara Hilgedieck, Troy Novey, Julie Pennock and Lynsey Keeling-Milam; and twelve great grandchildren. One sister, Marguerite Thompson, and one grandson in infancy, Kirk Novey, preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a member of the Serena United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening, with a passion for flowers. She cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren, especially time spent attending her grandchildren’s various events. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Serena United Methodist Church, Pleasant View, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
