Dorothy L. Smith

Dorothy L. Smith, 86, of Ottawa went home to be with the Lord, Monday, October 29, 2007 at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy F. Wilson and Rev. Dana Coyle of Freedom Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Thursday until time of services. Mrs. Smith was born January 25, 1921 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Arnold and Nellie (Waldo) Carver. She married Lloyd E. Smith on March 20, 1937, in Ottawa. He went home to be with the Lord on July 8, 1980. She worked at many local businesses in Ottawa and retired from Westclox. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Seneca. She is survived by a son, Lloyd N. Smith of Chicopee, Mass; two daughters, Darlene Moore of Seneca and Linda Ness of Ottawa; six grandchildren, Lloyd and Debborah Smith, Dianna Smith Hussey, Scott and David Peddicord, and Wesley Norman Ness; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Lutomski of Morris. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Smith, Wilma Nelson and Noma Carter; and five brothers, Arnold, Robert, David, Floyd and Leonard. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Lloyd Smith, David Peddicord, Scott and Wesley Norman Ness and a great grandsons, Nicholas and Nathan Peddicord, Justin Ness and a nephew, Judd Nelson. Memorials may be directed to the Ottawa Food Pantry.
