Dorothy F. (Brown) Kellogg

NEWARK – Dorothy F. Kellogg, age 85, of Newark, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Morris Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Newark Lutheran Church with Pastor Charles Sampson officiating.  Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at Oakwood Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at Gladfelter Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Michael, Ryan and Jon Kellogg, Tom Richards, Stan Spraggon and Scott Pickert.

Dorothy was born October 12, 1926 at Ottawa, Illinois, a daughter of Wilbur and Sylvia (Underhill) Brown.  She married William A. Kellogg July 24, 1948 at the Norway Methodist Church.  She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill; her children, Nancy Lindholm of Newark, Rick (Sue) Johnson of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Steve (Dorette) Kellogg of Serena and Dave (Penny) Kellogg of Newark.  She also leaves two brothers, Dale (Pat) Brown of Mantino, Illinois and Howard (Elaine) Brown of Hoover, Alabama; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.  Her parents, two brothers, Billy and Johnny and two sisters Bev and Leta preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a member of the Newark Lutheran Church and a former member of the Norway Methodist Church.  She had been employed at the ASCS office, the Kendall County Record and Hendrick’s Dress Shop in Somonauk.  Dorothy loved animals and particularly enjoyed watching birds.  Her spare time often found her working in her yard, gardening, sewing or doing crochet.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Newark Lutheran Church; the Charles B. Phillips Public Library, Newark; or the Morris Healthcare and Rehab Center Dementia Unit.
