November 26, 1914 — February 13, 2007

Doris N. Stohl, 92, of Ottawa, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev. Peter Ward officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Gladfelter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Stohl was born November 26, 1914, in rural Sheridan, to Alfred and Emma (Vermeland) Nelson. She married Carl Vernon Stohl on January 3, 1937. He died February 21, 1978. she was employed by Block & Kuhl and Carson Pirie Scott & Company. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Women's Fellowship and member of Cleng Peerson Sons of Norway. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Dick) Shipman of Ottawa; a son , Gary (Mary Jo) Stohl of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Leslie Shipman (Tom) Ziel of Ottawa, Carla Shipman (Colen) Willis of Colorado Springs, Colo., Dirk (Linda) Shipman of Normal, Ill., Kristine Stohl (Jeff) Weber of North Aurora, Ill. and Susan Stohl (Jeff) Curtis of Ottawa; 13 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one step-great great grandchild; a sister, Irene Christopher of Ottawa; and a brother, Ivan (Irma) Nelson of Granbury, Tex. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Donald Nelson; and a great grandson, Soren Ziel. Pallbearers will be great grandsons, Luke and Tyler Willis, Trevin, Chapin and Stener Ziel. Memorials may be directed to Faith Lutheran Church.
