OTTAWA - Donald G. Golden, 72, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday morning, November 10, 2011 at Ottawa Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 at Gladfelter Funeral Home, Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon, Illinois with Reverend Dan Perry officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Illinois. Visitation will be held from noon until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Irwin Chapel in Glen Carbon. Donald was born July 19, 1939 in Hiram, Missouri, a son of John Henry and Helen Marie (Kramer) Golden. He married Pat Du Frain June 24, 1961 at Dewey Avenue United Methodist Church in Granite City, Illinois. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Pat, of Ottawa; his son, Jeff (Kim) Golden of Yorkville; a brother, Bud (Viv) Golden of Columbia, MO; three sisters, Betty (Al) Graham of Benton, AK, Linda (Wade) Duncan of Fredericktown, MO, and Geri (Everett) Young of Granite City, IL; and two granddaughters, Brooke and Heather Golden of Yorkville. His parents and one brother, LeRoy, preceded him in death. Donald was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Ottawa. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea. He retired from Kraft Foods in February 2005. He was employed as a parking valet at Ottawa Regional Hospital. One of his passions included collecting Corvettes. Other hobbies included gardening, fishing, and horses. His most treasured time was spent spoiling his two granddaughters, Brooke and Heather. Memorial contributions will be received at the respective funeral homes and may be directed to the Epworth United Methodist Church or the Highland Hope United Methodist Church.
