Donald C. Cihak, Sr., 78, of Ottawa, formerly of Chicago, died Saturday, July 28th, at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ottawa, with the Rev. Gerald J. Meyer as the celebrant. Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with liturgical prayers at 4 p.m. Mr. Cihak was born January 9, 1929, in Chicago. His parents were Ladislav and Marie (Kauer) Cihak. He married Anna Anton on August 2, 1952, in Chicago. He was regional office manager for Star Title Strip Company and later in life he worked for the Chicago Park District and he was a precinct captain in the 47th Ward in Chicago. He is survived by his wife, seven sons, Thomas (Marge Mangold) of Spring Grove, IL, Frank (Tammy) of Kansas City, Mo, Joseph (Sharon) of Pinnacle, NC, Donald Jr. (Helen) of Orlando, Fl., Peter (Deborah Hockman) Cihak of Geneva, IL, Michael (Lynn) of South Elgin, IL, Gregory of Chicago, IL and two daughters, Catherine Cihak of Ottawa, Annamarie Rodriguez of Saginaw, TX, his nine grandchildren, Theresa, Frank Jr., Christopher, Justin, Joanna, Andrew and Katherine Cihak, Veronica and Sandra Rodriguez; two great grandchildren; and a brother, Francis "Gig" of Alexandria, VA. Pallbearers will be his seven sons. Memorials may be directed to the Emphysema Foundation.
