Don E. Reese, age 89, of Serena, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Pleasant View with his loving family by his side.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 18th at Stavanger Lutheran Church with Pastor Phil Peterson officiating. Interment will be in West Serena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home.
Don was born July 6, 1930 in Sandwich, Illinois, a son of Earl T. and Bernice (Olson) Reese. He married Elaine Eike August 14, 1955 at Stavanger Lutheran Church. Don is survived by Elaine, his loving wife of 64 years; his sons, Daniel (Kelly) Reese of Woodbury, MN and Steven (Stacie) Reese of Glendale Heights, IL; and grandchildren, Morgan and Colin Reese. He also leaves a brother, Rodney (Judy) Reese of Serena; and a sister, Janet Reese of Bloomingdale, IL.
Don was a faithful and active member of Stavanger Lutheran Church where he was involved with various groups, including the Stavanger Home Builders. He was a member of the Serena Volunteer Fire Department, Serena Lions Club, Union Depot Railroad Museum in Mendota, West Serena Cemetery Board and the Serena Township Zoning Board. Don enjoyed anything to do with fire departments and railroads, which led to him volunteering his time and extraordinary woodworking talents at the Union Depot Railroad Museum in Mendota. He enjoyed fishing trips to Sand Lake the “only lake” in Minnesota, but the time most treasured was that spent with his family.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Stavanger Lutheran Church, Serena Fire Department or the Serena Lions Club.
