Dominic P. Datti, age 86, of Ottawa, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his residence. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum with Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Ottawa American Legion Veterans Group. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Mr. Datti was born July 9, 1923 at Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Joseph and Josephine (Vittorio) Datti. He married Mary E. "Honey" Aubry November 9, 1946 at Utica. She preceded him in death April 17, 2001. He is survived by close friends Carol Miller of Ottawa; Michael (Denna) Hall and their children Morgan and Evan all of Ottawa; and a sister, Lee (Bud) Hougas of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Wayne and Edward. Mr. Datti was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Moose Lodge #960 and the National Rifle Association. Dominic retired from the Bakelite Company and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed target shooting and was a licensed airplane pilot. Dominic was an entrepreneur having developed Datti's Mobile Home Park. In his leisure time, he enjoyed landscaping and gardening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
