Dolores J. (Hammack) Murry

OTTAWA – Dolores J. Murry, age 84, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church.  Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home with prayers at 3:30 p.m.  Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Conness, Carrie Harrison, Chad and Patrick Murry, and Stacey Burke.

Dolores was born April 11, 1933 in La Salle, Illinois, the daughter of Irvin and Mildred (Mertel) Hammack.  She married James D. Murry February 14, 1953 in Oglesby.  Surviving are her husband of 64 years, James, of Ottawa; her children, Nancy (James) Conness, Dennis (Nancy) Murry, and Joseph (Jean) Murry, all of Ottawa; grandchildren, Christopher (Karen) Conness, Carrie (Joe) Harrison, Nicholas (Erinn) Conness, Chad Murry, Stacey (Alex) Burke, and Patrick (Charlotte) Murry; and ten great grandchildren with one on the way.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Irvin, Delbert, and Randal Hammack.

Dolores was a member of St. Patrick Church where she spent time as a church volunteer.  One of her talents was making crafts out of wood which she would then sell at craft fairs.  Other hobbies included cooking as well as crocheting and sewing doll clothes for her grandchildren.  Dolores was devoted to her family and cherished her time spent with them, especially her grandchildren.
