Dennis Lee Brown, Sr.

SHERIDAN – Dennis Lee Brown, Sr., age 67, of Sheridan, passed away Saturday afternoon, April 28, 2012 at Rush – Copley Medical Center in Aurora.

Funeral services honoring his life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2 at Fox River Lutheran Church, Sheridan with Pastor Stephen Papillon officiating. Interment will follow in Norway Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa. Pallbearers will be Christopher and Dustin Brown, Seth and Zachary Peters, Brett Cole and Everett Brue. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Olson and Ken Kubisak.

Dennis was born August 1, 1944 in Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Edgar and Phyllis (Pfieffer) Brown. He married Sandra Rabe August 31, 1963 at the Fox River Lutheran Church, Sheridan (Norway). Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra; children, Dennis “Jay” Brown, Jr. and wife Rhonda, Marla Peters and Thomas J. Hardyman all of Norway; brothers, Timothy Brown and wife Waynette of Ava, Missouri and Bruce Brown and wife Kate of Utica; and a sister, Kathleen Cole of Leland. He also leaves grandchildren, Christopher and Dustin Brown, Seth and Zachary Peters and Hannah Hardyman; and a great-grandson, Aiden Brown. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ralph Cole.

Dennis was a member of Fox River Lutheran Church and the Serena Lions Club. He was employed as a truck driver having driven for various companies including Elburn Co-op and Solar Communications. Dennis also farmed for 15 years and was proud to have participated in the Heritage Tractor Run originated by Max Armstrong of WGN. He cherished time with his family and particularly enjoyed golfing with his grandkids. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
