Dean H. Raber, 85, of Ottawa, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the La Salle County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bond Haldeman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Mr. Raber was born March 25, 1921, in Flanagan, Ill., to Levi and Minnie (King) Raber. He was married to Elizabeth Ann Zsizsik in August of 1942. She died April 26, 1978. He then married Dorothy Boren of Marseilles in 1985. She died in May 30, 1992. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a barber on the southside of Ottawa for 36 years and retired from barbering in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 33 and the Elks Lodge No. 533. He served on the La Salle County Board for 22 year, and 7 years on the La Salle County Housing Authority. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He is survived by two sons, Richard (Carolyn) of Bartlett, Ill. And Clark (Janet) of Ottawa; four grandchildren, Suanne, Renee, Amanda and Douglas; and a greatgrandson; a brother, Lyle of Waupaca, Wisc. Preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Clark and Glenn; and a sister, Gladys Raber. Memorial may be directed to the research for the blind with Macular Degeneration, Trinity Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
