David Duane Syverson II

David D. Syverson II passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

David was born September 19, 1976 in Ottawa to David Syverson and Sue Ann (Syverson) Mills. He had been formerly married to Tatiana Panferova. Surviving are his parents; children, Jade Syverson-Snell of Ottawa and Richard Syverson of San Antonio, TX; Jennifer Selby of Seneca and, step-children Jenna Zeznanski of Seneca and Shawntey Mitchell of Ottawa. He also leaves a sister, Elisa Herr of Magnolia, her husband John, and a niece, Bailey Herr; uncles Ralph H. Syverson, Donald and Charles Thompson; and an aunt, Diane Johnson. David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Hazel Syverson, and Donald and Doris Thompson.

David was a fun-loving outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, firecrackers, and general tomfoolery. As a young man, David was an athlete, he enjoyed playing baseball and was on the Ottawa High School football team. Occasionally, he was mistaken for "Superman" by younger children who marveled at his physique. David had a very outgoing personality. He could talk, and would talk to anyone about anything, as long as people were having a good time. A superb prankster, he loved to laugh and could frequently be caught tossing firecrackers under a friends chair. David was always up for a good meal and a good time. David was rarely one to be caught behaving himself, but his unique brand of mischief was almost certain to bring a laugh to a gathering or family event. Without Davey in it, life will certainly be less colorful than it once was.

Visitation for David will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, February 20th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home followed by a service at 6 p.m. with Rev. John Nordstrom officiating. A Celebration of David's life will be held at a time and place to be announced. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
