David K. Snook

David K. Snook, age 79, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, March 5 at St. Columba Church with the Reverend David M. Kipfer celebrating. Interment will follow at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Jim, Chris and Richard Snook, Andrew Gaydos, Jon Good, Tom Lamb and Brett Hodges. David was born February 23, 1932 at Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Walter L. and Ruth M. (Radle) Snook. He married Rogene Weiss February 23, 1952 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. He is survived by his loving wife, Rogene; his children, Peter (Debra) Snook and Kevin (Judy) Snook all of Ottawa, Katharine (Robert) Smiley of Stoughton, Wisconsin, Ruth (Russell) Gaydos of St. Paul, Minnesota and Caroline (Tim) Good of Greencastle, Indiana. He also leaves grandchildren, Jim Snook, Brandy Hodges, Kendall Snook, Brett Miller, Brandon Miller, Kody Miller, Kasey Wilson, Michele Lamb, Christopher Snook, Richard Snook, Sarah Rose Smiley, Cindy Gaydos, Andrew Gaydos, Keri Good, Jon Good, Lauren Good, Charlie Good and Fiona Good; and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Walter Snook and a grandson, Stephen Gaydos. David was a member of St. Columba Church. He provided for his family as a dairy farmer. He also belonged to the American Dairy Association, American Guernsey Cattle Club, the Associated Milk Producers Inc. and the National Rifle Association. David was an accomplished musician on the accordion. Most of all, he treasured time spent with his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
