RAMSEY - David L. Heimer, 67, of Ramsey, Illinois, passed into his Saviour’s arms on July 29, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dave was born on July 21, 1946 to Donald Wayne and Francis (Chaplin) Heimer in Pittsfield, Illinois.  He married Dee Ann Chapman on June 3, 1967.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Peddicord of Seneca, Katie (Joe) Hughes of Marseilles and Sara (Mike) Small of Marseilles; nine grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Peddicord, Whitney, Chelsey and Taylor Hughes, and Hannah, Connor, Claire and Campbell Small; his beloved fiancée Carolyn McDowell of Ramsey, and his brothers, Larry (Mariko) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Michael (Nicky) of Montgomery, Illinois, Jerry (Vicky) of Conifer, Colorado, Jeff (Emily) of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Tim (Denise) of Channahon, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Donald Wayne in infancy, Darrell and Jim.

Dave retired from T.J. Lambrecht Construction in December 2011.  He was a member of  Laborer’s Local 75 and the Vera Baptist Church.

During his short retirement, Dave and his fiancée traveled every chance they got.  There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his brothers, children, grandchildren and friends.  He was a great storyteller and loved to laugh.

Visitation will be at Gladfelter’s Funeral Home, Ottawa, Illinois from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1.  Funeral services, with Pastor Wade Heimer, officiating, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, with visitation one hour before services.  Burial will be at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Elwood with full military honors.

Dave was the Superintendent during the building of the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery and was proud to say that would be his final resting place.

Memorials may be directed to Fisher House Foundation, which provides housing to families of hospitalized veterans.
