OTTAWA – Daniel Thomas Wood, 91, of Ottawa passed away Friday afternoon, February 1, 2013 at Ottawa Pavilion.
There will be no visitation as the deceased wished. His ashes will be entombed in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Daniel was born on November 23, 1921 in Campbellsville, Kentucky to Lem and Della (Cox) Wood. He married Rita Mason on March 11, 1943. He is survived by his wife, Rita, of 69 years; his son, Craig (Holly) Wood of Colorado; his daughter, Sandy (Charles) Pommier of Marseilles; his brother, Charles Leonard Wood of Arkansas; three granddaughters, Stephanie (Steve) Balynas, Tracy Wood of Wyoming, and Elizabeth Litalien of Washington; six great grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, and Cassie Balynas, Shiandra and Brenner Litalien and Khiandra Pommier. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; one brother, Haskel Wood; two sisters, Hazel Mills and Jewell Wheeler; and one granddaughter, Chandra Pommier.
Daniel served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Marseilles VFW and IBEW Retirees.
